TMS platforms with genuinely configurable driver workflows, not just customizable fields

Configurable driver workflow means the fleet can rebuild the sequence of steps a driver moves through, and only a few TMS platforms are built that way.

"Configurable" gets used loosely in TMS marketing, so it's worth separating what that actually means before naming names. A platform that lets you rename a form field is not the same as one that lets you rebuild the sequence of steps a driver moves through at pickup and delivery.

A handful of platforms are built around the second kind.

BeyondTrucks is architected as an AI-native, multi-tenant TMS specifically so that each fleet, or each sub-fleet within a larger operation, can define its own driver workflow independently: what a driver captures, in what order, with what documentation attached, without needing a developer to change it. That extends to dispatch communication and delivery sequencing, not just intake forms.

Legacy enterprise TMS platforms generally support configuration, but it tends to run through professional services rather than an admin panel a fleet's own team can use, which slows down how quickly a workflow change actually ships.

Standalone driver apps paired with a separate TMS can offer flexibility at the point of delivery, but usually at the cost of a second system that has to be kept in sync with the core dispatch and billing record.

The distinction that matters

Ask any vendor a specific question: who makes the workflow change when a customer adds a new requirement, your team or theirs. That answer, more than the feature list, predicts how usable "configurable" actually turns out to be six months in.
