ORTEC
Which one fits your operation?
BeyondTrucks
You are a private fleet or specialized transportation company whose edge is complex, specialized operations rather than volume of standardized, repeat-stop deliveries.
You want a single system of record for dispatch, driver workflows, rating, billing and settlement, not an optimization module layered on top of a separate TMS or ERP.
Your dispatch planning logic needs to incorporate driver availability, qualifications and preferences alongside equipment availability, specifications and status, such as product qualification or trailer wash requirements.
You run bulk, chemical, construction, agricultural or food-grade operations where constraint handling is as important as route sequencing.
You would rather modernize the underlying platform than add another vendor and integration to maintain.
ORTEC
You are a retailer, CPG company running a high-frequency, high-volume, and regular distribution network and want route, load and territory optimization.
You already run an ERP, WMS or TMS you have no plans to replace, and you're looking for an optimization layer to sit on top of it, accepting that there will be limitations to the amount of value that can be unlocked.
Common Questions
Can ORTEC help you manage your transportation operations?
Not in the way BeyondTrucks can. ORTEC sells mathematical optimization software, mainly for routing, scheduling, territory design and load building, that is deployed alongside or embedded in a customer's existing ERP, WMS or TMS. It doesn't help you ensure that an optimized route is actually executed, nor does data from delivery execution feed directly back into the model to update recommendations. Finally, ORTEC does not consider driver workflows, rating, billing or settlement implications of recommendations on its own.
How is BeyondTrucks different from ORTEC?
BeyondTrucks is a single operating platform where dispatch, driver workflows, rating, billing, settlement and optimization all draw on the same live data, purpose-built for private and specialized fleets with driver and equipment qualification constraints. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, the company includes some of the industry’s most experienced transportation operators, fleet technologists, as well as some of the world’s pre-eminent optimization & AI researchers trained at Harvard and Stanford. Headquartered in the Netherlands, ORTEC is a horizontal optimization vendor serving many industries, whose transportation products focus on route, load and territory optimization and are designed to plug into whatever system of record a customer already runs.
Does ORTEC handle driver and equipment qualification constraints like BeyondTrucks?
Not as a core focus. ORTEC's optimization centers on stop sequencing, time windows, vehicle capacity and load or pallet fit. Constraints specific to bulk, chemical or hazmat operations, such as driver product certifications, trailer last-contained product history and wash scheduling, are outside its typical scope and would need to be modeled elsewhere or handled manually.
Could a fleet use both?
In principle, yes, since ORTEC is designed to integrate into an existing TMS or ERP. In that setup, a fleet would run BeyondTrucks as the operating platform and data source, with ORTEC layered on for a specific optimization problem it specializes in outside transportation, such as warehouse or workforce scheduling. For core dispatch and load assignment, most BeyondTrucks fleets find the optimization built into the platform removes the need for a second, separately maintained optimizer.
Which is better for specialized, service-centric or complex freight?
BeyondTrucks. ORTEC's transportation products are built for high-frequency, high-volume B2B and last-mile delivery networks, where the optimization problem is route and load sequencing. Bulk, chemical, construction, food-grade or other operations where service is critical turn on constraints such as product qualification, trailer last-contained history and wash scheduling that BeyondTrucks models directly inside the assignment decision.
How does pricing compare?
Neither company publishes list pricing. ORTEC typically quotes enterprise licensing scoped around vehicle count and the specific optimization modules selected, on top of whatever ERP, WMS or TMS a customer already pays for. BeyondTrucks uses subscription pricing for a single platform that replaces the need for a separate optimization vendor and integration.
