Fuel distributors keep buying software to fix asset utilization. Fewer of them realize the actual bottleneck is usually sitting in the driver schedule, not the truck.
Here's why the two are linked rather than separate. A tanker sitting idle almost never means the truck itself is the problem. It usually traces back to a driver running out of hours, a delivery window missed by twenty minutes that pushed the whole day sideways, or a load sequenced too tightly against the next one. Fix the scheduling side and utilization tends to improve on its own. Try to fix utilization without touching the schedule, and dispatch ends up sending trucks the system marked "available" straight into an hours-of-service conflict.
Three capabilities separate software that actually solves this from software that just reports on it.
Delay detection needs to update the whole schedule, not one line item.
